Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:


Responsible for staff development to ensure associates are multi-skilled within the business unit.Responsible for sustaining a continuous improvement work environment with a focus on employee motivation, quality, efficient delivery systems, elimination of waste, cost reductions, safety and employee engagement.Plans and coordinates work activities for the applicable shift operation. Must be able to oversee work activities, delegate tasks and resolve problems.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma; Associatesdegree preferred
  • 2 - 5 years team based leadership
  • Previous supervisory experience desired
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally medical device or equivalent manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Strong communication (verbal, written and listening)
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to train, coach and develop all direct reports
  • Intermediate level computer skills: i.e. Word, excel, PowerPoint and SAP or related MRP systems
  • Knowledge of FDA and ISO standards.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply lean and continuous improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of lean, pull systems, Kanban and other related techniques

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work additional time as needed.
  • Must be punctual, able to sustain attendance guidelines, and work hours as assigned.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Frequent driving on company business is required as part of this job.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the position and/or the goals and objectives of the department may be assigned.):

People:

  • All employees are expected to be knowledgeable about and follow the Company's Equal Employment and Affirmative Action Policies, including policies on the rights of individuals with disabilities and harassment.
  • Address and resolve employee relation matters and behavior that do not conform to company policies and core values.Seeks management and Human Resources involvement when necessary.
  • Oversees the onboarding, training and development of all associates.
  • Interviews and makes hiring decisions on direct reports.
  • Completes performance evaluations and oversees employee's ongoing and annual performance evaluations.
  • Supervise hourly staff and 2-4 Team leads
  • Trains, coach and develop staff on a continuous basis
  • Oversee and audit team members evaluation report to ensure accuracy on processingof service events and issuance of customer warranties.
  • Ensure compliance to our complaint handling procedure.
  • Displays Core Values through actions and decisions
  • Build work discipline
  • Train and develop staff based on individual and department needs.Implement training programs to close gap to target.
  • Responsible for employee relations and motivation
  • Responsible for department communication: daily, weekly and department shift meetings.

  • Approves time cards and time off requests
  • Aware of practices and processes utilizing current management tools.


Regulatory and Quality Systems:

  • Ensures that all company policies are consistently observed and enforced.
  • Prepares work standards and assures they are a heard to on a consistent basis to meet production lead and cycle times.
  • Conducts Kaizens and other techniques in order to implement quality improvements on a continuous basis.
  • Maintain employee training records
  • Writes ECO's for the department
  • Leads department efforts to ensure a continuous improvement work environment which develops people, and improved production yields and product quality.
  • Educate and train team members to ensure an engaged workforce which understands and support the concepts of lean manufacturing


Delivery:

  • Interface promptly with team members and support personnel to resolve manufacturing issues expedite, MRB, purchase supplies, managing work order and monitor inventory
  • Oversees MRB and morning market
  • Ability to pull in technical resources to resolve down times greater than one hour
  • Monitor and improve department performance, goals and objectives on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Deploy weekly and monthly strategies
  • Oversees and conduct weekly 5's audits Oversees PM and calibration program for the department
  • Monitor department performance against metrics, reports results and takes actions to close gaps
  • Update and monitor visual reporting systems


Cost:

  • Monitor and implement cost reduction efforts
  • Oversees the "Everyone Every Day" continuous improvement initiative.

ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY:

  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all environmental and safety laws and regulations, including the Company's environmental and safety policies and procedures.Must be willing to report actual and potential environmental and safety violations to appropriate supervisory and/or management personnel.
  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for knowledge of and adherence to environmental policies and company procedures as they relate to ISO 14001.
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety of himself/herself or others.
  • Responsible for informing the Company if he/she is taking medications or if there are any other circumstances that would interfere with safe performance of job duties.


QUALITY:

  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures as they relate to the requirements of FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 (current revisions).

  • Must be able to maintain productive working relationships with employees, management, and support personnel.
  • Must treat all employees, vendors and customers with respect and dignity.
