Job Description

Summary

The Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing occupational therapy to patients to restore them
to their fullest physical ability. The Occupational Therapy Assistant performs his/her duties in accordance with
policies and procedures and the established plan of care.



Responsibilities
  • Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by the state laws governing the practice occupational therapy, in accordance with the plan of care, and in coordination with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Observes and reports the patient's response to treatment and any changes in his/her condition to the occupational therapist and nurse supervisor and/or the physician.
  • Treats patients to relieve pain, develop and restore function, and / or maintain maximum functioning using acceptable standards of practice and evidence-based techniques in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Instructs and informs the interdisciplinary team, the patient, and the family/caregivers regarding the plan of care, and functional limitations.
  • Completes a progress note for each treatment, and documents note in the medical record.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, family meetings, and other meetings as required.
  • Accesses education to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills that are current with the standards of care for the profession.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience
  • Current OTA licensure in the state of practice.
  • Current CPR certification is required
  • Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.
