Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, groundwater, building materials, and noise. Operates field monitoring equipment. Assists with operation and maintenance of remediation systems. May assist with asbestos surveys, abatement projects and Phase I preliminary site assessments. Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis. Tabulate and prepare data for written reports. Cleans and maintains field monitoring equipment. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Perform oversight, documentation, and air monitoring for asbestos, mold, lead and/or remediation activities for various facilities, e.g. industrial, chemical, commercial, public, schools, etc.
  • Performs basic tests as directed using well-defined procedures
  • Assists in basic survey/ measurement data
  • Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
  • Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 0-3 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
  • Must be willing to travel. Travel may include overnight trips up to and including a week or longer-term assignments
  • Must be able to pass medical exam and medically cleared to wear negative pressure respirator.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment throughout 8-hour shift.
  • Work hours may include nights and weekends, or extended shifts beyond 8 hours.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in variable environments.
Preferred Certification:
  • LDEQ Asbestos Inspector
  • LDEQ Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor
  • NIOSH 582 equivalent
  • Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Experience performing IH asbestos-related work and other environmental work.
