Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Traffic Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Perform complex traffic engineering projects, exercise sound engineering judgment, preparation of traffic signal plans, traffic impact analysis reports and PS&E documents.
  • Work as a key member of a design team in preparation of the following elements of roadway, street and/or highway design using local (state, county, or city) or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, intersection layout and sight distance determination, interchange layout, roadway drainage, and right-of-way plans.
  • Work with a team as a project manager or task leader for primarily municipal projects in the preparation of plans, specifications and estimate for projects of various sizes and complexity.
  • Make decisions on design and engineering procedures as needed.
  • Function as technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects, but project management is not sole focus of this position.
  • Supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years traffic engineering/analysis. Experience in transportation a plus.
  • Professional Engineer in Louisiana, or obtain PE within 1 year
  • Hands-on experience with Highway Capacity Software, Microstation and /or AutoCad
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
